Elanders in Newcastle

Elanders Hindson Ltd.

The competition in Great Britain is fierce, and one strategy for survival is to be able to deliver complete solutions rather than just printed matter. That is a path that Elanders in Newcastle has chosen, and the company strives to be a single source provider of media products for their customers. Many of them have bought so called Master Vendor® solutions. These customers include Worcester Bosch and GM Vauxhall, who each have signed contracts covering several years.

Other important customers include Land Rover, Toyota and Bentley Motors within the car industry, and within other sectors customers include Coordination Group Publications, Vaillant, Teejay Publishers, Saint-Gobain and Dactyl Publishing.

Besides the traditional infomedia business, Elanders Ltd also takes responsibility for, in certain cases, ordering and storing, other products connected to printed matter, such as screws, nuts and pipes.

The facility in Newcastle is a complete printing plant with a broad range of services. Besides common sheet-fed offset presses the plant also houses a B1-press for lithographic printing for up to ten colours. There is also equipment for digital printing with variable data, which means it is possible to integrate a name, with a picture, for example.

Investing more in digital print is inevitable as the technology is refined and can be used to print larger volumes in better quality. The market share for personalised, customised products will most likely increase at the expense of mass produced, general printed products.

Information will be stored centrally in the future, and will be collected and used directly by the customer or end customer. Print-on-demand via the Internet is something the company will be ready for when the market demands it.
